I don’t think so. I’d go get checked out for a vitamin D deficiency. It’s called Rickets.

Your body naturally produces glucosamine, a substance that plays a role in building cartilage, which is the connective tissue that cushions your joints. Glucosamine is also available in supplement form, which is usually made from a substance called chitin, which is found in the hard outer shell of crabs, shrimp and lobster. Glucosamine supplements are generally used to treat osteoarthritis and reduce joint pain associated with the condition.

Glucosamine sulfate with and without chondroitin sulfate has demonstrated the ability to relieve arthritic pain. A quality example is noted again by PubMed, which cites a 2007 study reported in “Arthritis Rheumatology” that concluded glucosamine sulfate is more effective than acetaminophen in treating the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center states that the sea cucumber is very rich in the mucopolysaccharide chondroitin sulfate. Chondroitin sulfate is commonly used as an over-the-counter treatment for arthritis pain. A study published by Daniel O. Clegg M.D. in 2006 issue of “The New England Journal of Medicine” confirms that the consumption of chrondroitin sulfate was effective in reducing arthritis pain in the group of study subjects with moderate to severe arthritis pain. The results of this study directly links the effectiveness of sea cucumber for treatment of arthritis pain due to the high concentration of chondroitin sulfate.

Joint pain relief for dogs?

Question by : Joint pain relief for dogs?
What is the best all natural joint pain relief for dogs out there? Any remedies besides fish oil which does not work?

I assume your vet is aware of your dog’s joint pain and is working with you regarding his joint care? In that case, talk to your vet about trying glucosamine/chondroitin pills. Your vet will work with you to see if this is a viable option and work out a good dosage if it is.

Peri-menopausal women may have morning stiffness and joint pains in the hands, knees, hips, lower back and shoulders. This symptom is commonly reported in menopausal women in Asia. The drop in estrogen may be a contributing factor but the reasons for why this increases joint/muscle aches and pain are unclear.

One of the best over the counter remedies to take is Glusomine and Condrotin which most doctors recommend. I would have a bone scan done just to see what is going on–it is considered preventative medicine to do this.

WHY DO I HAVE LOWER BACK PAIN, JOINT AND BONE PAIN?

Question by : WHY DO I HAVE LOWER BACK PAIN, JOINT AND BONE PAIN?
For the past week i been having lower back pain. Then it spread to being bone and joint pain. Im afraid to go to the doctor and hear bad news. Can someone please give me feed back.

Best answer:

Answer by dares2cares
The mostly likely cause of this type of back pain is a misalignment of your joints. It could be something more serious, but more than likely it is a simple misalignment.

See a chiropractor first. They should be able to diagnose your problem and more than likely correct it. In the rare instance it is something more serious, they will refer you to the proper specialist.

I really wish you the best

How do doctors tell if the knee pain is from the joint or a nerve?

joint knee pain
by Christiana Care

Question by : How do doctors tell if the knee pain is from the joint or a nerve?
My doctor gave my daughter a cortizone shot last week. And he said that by doing this he would be able to tell if my daughters pain was from a nerve or the actual knee joint. How does he tell which it’s from?

Best answer:

Answer by Kat
They can tell by doing a nerve conductive study. They tape little wires to the area where the nerves are seated and run a small amount of electricity through the area and it registers on a screen. When you have nerve damage you can see that the nerves are not firing properly.

At my pharmacy there is product herbal based; Natural Support Joint & Muscle Comfort Support. Pharmacist said no known success of this. Suggested Gluscosamine for repair cartlidge; many brands available. Which is best?

Glucosamine is an amino acid that is usually taken from shellfish (the slimey lining) its C6H13NO5
It may help to stop or reverse joint degeneration by stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid and proteoglycans which are the essential building blocks for forming and repairing cartilage. Research has been pretty good and unless you are alergic to shellfish or diabetic (its a type to sugar) its usually fine to take.
Boots, Tesco etc should all be about the same quality, they have a reputation to keep up, although as its not a drug its not regulated and products do vary. You can get it on prescription by your GP which should ensure quality (you hope!)
I’m firmly in the ‘give it a go’ camp, 1500 mg a day and give it at least 3 months to help your arthritis
